I am glad you’re here

Katie O’Dowd, Ph.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist | Founder

Hi, I’m Katie O’Dowd (she/her), Ph.D., a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the owner of TrueLife Psychotherapy and Consultation, Inc. I’ve dedicated my career to helping people navigate life’s challenges with compassion and clarity. I believe that living your true life starts with feeling connected to yourself and your values, even when the road gets tough.

My Journey

With over 20 years of experience spanning psychology and education, I’ve had the opportunity to work in diverse settings, including community mental health, educational institutions, and corporate environments. These diverse experiences have shaped my holistic approach to therapy, allowing me to connect with individuals from all walks of life.

I started my career working in community mental health and adult education, where I developed a deep appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit. Over time, I took on leadership roles within public organizations and private corporations, gaining insight into the complexities of workplace stress, leadership challenges, and life transitions. These experiences inspire me to support people in finding their way through anxiety, depression, workplace stress, women’s health concerns, and relationship struggles.

My Approach

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I believe that your story deserves a personalized approach. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices that I tailor to your unique needs and experiences. I’m committed to using methods that are not only effective but also feel right for you.

I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you align your actions with your values.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for identifying and reshaping unhelpful thought patterns.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build emotional resilience and regulation.

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) to foster present-moment awareness and reduce stress.

Throughout our work together, I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I see therapy as a collaborative journey—one where we work together to explore challenges, celebrate progress, and move toward the life you envision. I’m here to support you every step of the way.
